Desert Castles in Jordan - Umm Qais
Umm Qais is 31 km northwest of the city of Irbid, close to the Syrian border. Like Jerash, Umm Qais is one of the Decapolis cities and was known in biblical times as Gadara. The excavations have revealed three theaters, a temple, a colonnaded street and an aqueduct.
From the top of the largest theater one can see as far as Lake Tiberias, northern Palestine, and Syria.
