‘Ali Qleibo

Ali Qleibo was born in Jerusalem. He received his Ph.D. in cultural anthropology in the United States. He is an author, artist and lecturer. He has written several books on modern Arabic thought, Palestinian culture, as well as plays. His book “Before the Mountains Disappear”, an ethnographic chronicle of modern Palestinian life, was published in 1992. “Jerusalem in the Heart” is a cultural guide to Jerusalem.

He lectures on Muslim Religion and Palestinian Culture locally and internationally. He has been a visiting professor at Tokyo University, and is presently the Director of the Department of Fine Arts at Al-Quds University in East Jerusalem.

His painting “Double Window” was the first Palestinian artwork chosen by UNICEF. His work is kept in private collections all over the world. Jerusalem is Qleibo’s major source of inspiration and is reflected in his literary and artistic work.
