Samia Zaru was born in Nablus in 1938. She received an Education Diploma from the American University of Beirut in 1958. Between 1958 and 1961 she continued her studies at the Corcoran School of Art and the American University in Washington D.C. In 1964 she studied sculpture in Lebanon with renowned Lebanese artist Basbous and attended Art Education Specialist UNESCO/UNRWA Seminars in Beirut, Lebanon. She has held several solo exhibitions in Beirut, Amman, London and Washington D.C.

Zaru lives and works in Amman, Jordan.
