Ghazi al-Khalidy was born in Damascus in 1935. He studied Fine Arts in Cairo and graduated in 1962. He received a doctorate in Aesthetics from the Royal Academy in London in 1996.

Al Khalidy’s themes are mainly drawn from the built environment and in particular old Damascus.
