Synopsis: Based on the book by Ali Ghanem, the film is about Fatiha, an 18-year old schoolgirl in Algiers. Her parents decide to marry her to Hussein, a 35-year old Algerian immigrant worker in France. Though the two have never met, Fatiha’s parents arrange the marriage in keeping with local traditions. Hussein goes to Algeria for the wedding, to consummate the marriage, then returns to his job in France. The film explores the issues in arranged marriages in modern Algeria.
