Bendir

The bendir is a hand drum made of a wooden frame with a fish or goat skin membrane, forty or more centimeters in diameter. The musician keeps the instrument vertical by inserting his thumb through the thumbhole in the frame. Three strings of gut are stretched across the underside of the drum, touching the skin, to provide resonance.

The bendir is played in
Morocco where it is commonly used in religious ceremonies, and is a variant of the riqq.
